In the last quarter of 2010, smart phone sales surpassed those of traditional PC's

Figures from International Data Corporation reveal that over 100 million units were shipped in the final quarter, compared to just over 92 million PC's.

The equates to an 87 per cent year-on-year increase.

Many of these devices are WiFi enabled and in some cases a WiFI network is required to experience the installed application. One example of this is the Apple Iphone Face Time application which requires the higher speed WiFi network.
